A little regular care goes a long way. These simple steps will help protect the timber, preserve the engraving, and keep your board in good condition for years to come.
Please Avoid
- Do not put your board in the dishwasher.
- Do not soak it in water.
- Do not leave it sitting wet on the bench or sink.
- Do not store it in direct heat or harsh sun for long periods.
If the Timber Starts to Look Dry
If your board begins to look dry or faded, refresh it with a food-safe conditioning finish. Linseed oil with beeswax works well, or you can use a butcher block butter product.
A suitable option is the Liquid Beeswax conditioner from Mitre 10.
Best Result
Apply a light coat, let it soak in, then buff off any excess with a soft cloth. Repeating this from time to time will help keep the timber nourished and rich in colour.
A Natural Product
Because timber is natural, every board will age a little differently. Small changes in tone and grain over time are normal and part of what makes each piece unique.
